Dr. Hemant Paudel
In Alzheimer's disease (AD), microtubule-associated
protein tau becomes abnormally hyperphosphorylated and aggregates
into paired helical filaments which are the major structural
component of neurofibrillary tangles. Dr. Paudel's research
program is to elucidate the molecular mechanism of tau phosphorylation
in normal brain and to determine how this regulation fails
in Alzheimer's disease brain.
